2007 Summer Sunday School Spend The Summer in for children ages 4 through grade 6 CLICK HERE TO REGISTER YOUR CHILD! The idea that Narnia began as a way to say something to children about Christianity is, according to C.S. Lewis, “moonshine.” He began with an image of the fantasy world, and the Christian themes entered that world naturally. The story that resulted is a marvelous joining of imagination and truth. C.S. Lewis carefully pointed out that this joining is a “supposition” rather than an allegory. He didn’t want his story to be read and broken apart to find out hidden connections. Instead, he constructed the world of Narnia out of his imagination and then “supposed” what God would do to redeem such a world if it existed. His hope was that the story would show an example of what God might do in such a circumstance. A year after their previous adventure-but a thousand years later, Narnia time—Aslan’s magic draws Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy, the children from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, back into Narnia. But with the passage of so much time since last they were in Narnia, little is familiar to them. They find themselves at the ruins of Cair Paravel, where they once reigned as kings and queens of Narnia. A dwarf named Trumpkin finds the children and tells them that Narnia is in great danger because the true heir to the kingdom, Prince Caspian and all of the Narnian creatures who follow Aslan, the creator of Narnia, are in hiding. In desperation the Narnians had blown Susan’s horn to call Aslan and the children for help. It was this call that had pulled the children into Narnia. We call on all Narnians to come and join us this Summer as our adventure continues in the “The Return to Narnia”—the Rescue of Prince Caspian and the Voyage of the Dawn Treader. For five Sundays in July, we will join the Pevensie children as they fight a wicked king who has taken over the kingdom of Narnia and banished all who are known to believe in Aslan and restore the rightful heir to his throne and restore Narnia to it’s former glory. Our second adventure will take us on the high seas of Narnia as we join Prince Caspian in his search for the seven Lost Lords of Narnia and discover Aslan’s Country. Sunday April 15 and 22 we will be holding a pre- registration for the Summer Sunday School. You will also be able to place an advance order for one of the Narnia T-shirt designs.
