Junior High - Grades 7 & 8
F.A.Q.: Faithfully Asking Questions - The Junior High class will base their study on a curriculum that connects faith questions collected from Presbyterian youth with questions from The Study Catechism. Young people will bring their questions to the Bible and learn to navigate Scripture as they address issues of life and faith. Periodically during the year, the younger youth will join with the Senior Highs and at times the Adults and children to participate in Special Education Events:
- Reformation Sunday/October 31 Operation Christmas Child Packing Party
- Intergenerational Event/December 19 HolyWord Wax Museum: “The Names of Jesus”
- Annual Meeting/February 6 Bible Review Games
Confirmation Class - Grades 8 & 9
The Bible’s Big Story This year (2010-2011) , Confirmation will take on a new design. The Confirmation process is now being expanded to begin in the winter (January-May) of the 8th grade year with a 5 month Bible Survey class. Confirmation will continue (September-May) in the 9th grade year with a class that will discuss the hard questions of faith with the goal for the participants to develop a personal walk with Jesus.
The creation of this 5 month Bible Survey class is to help youth entering the Confirmation process to examine the Bible’s “Big Story” and understand all that preceded Jesus in order to grasp the truly immense nature of His life and ministry.
This January-May 2011, grades 8 and 9 will combine to begin the Confirmation Bible Survey Course. The themes we will explore as we follow the story of God’s plan of salvation are:
- Our longing for a better world
- We were designed for Good
- We were damaged by Evil
- God’s Plan of Restoration
- Sent Together to Heal
