What is a ChristCare Group?

A ChristCare Group is a gathering of about 3-12 people that meets regularly for an agreed upon season of time to deepen fellowship with one another and with Jesus Christ. When ChristCare groups meet, they participate in:

• mutual care and encouragement
• relating the Bible to daily life
• prayer and worship, and
• service or outreach to others

A trained leader who receives ongoing support for this ministry leads the ChristCare Group. The group decides together the focus of its Biblical study and the nature of its service or outreach.

ChristCare Groups Build Community

In a world where people often feel isolated, there is a strong need to have a place where you are known, where you have family. In ChristCare Groups, people develop trust, love, and acceptance, and are able to share joys and struggles. New members find a place to connect, and longtime members find a place for continued growth. Much of Jesus' most significant ministry took place within his small group of 12 disciples, and it is in the close and intimate setting of a ChristCare Group that we seek to become his disciples as well.

ChristCare Groups at Lewinsville

The following groups are now active at Lewinsville. If you are interested in joining one of these, contact the group leader for information about openings in the membership.

ChristCare Acts
Meets twice each month on Sundays from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. in members' homes. Leader: Claire Grossi (703) 893-6989

At Work in the World
Meets the first and third Sunday of each month from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. in members' homes.

Galilee ChristCare Gathering
Meets the second and fourth Sunday each month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel. Leaders: Louis Erasmus (703-761-3020) and Renie Ruehlin (703) 734-0358.

Sunday Evening ChristCare
Meets the second, third, fourth, and fifth Sundays of each month from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the library. Leader: Judy Herseth (703-435-2386).

ChristCare at LRR
Meets the second and fourth Monday each month from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.in the Activity Room at the Lewinsville Retirement Residence (LRR). Leader: Roz Kuldell (703-356-0628)

Barnabas ChristCare
Meets the first and third Monday each month from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. in the Parlor. Leader: Paul Phillips (703-237-8590)

Monday Night ChristCare
Meets every other Monday night from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the Bethany Room. Leader: Claire Grossi (703) 893-6989.

Faithful Followers Fellowship
Meets the second and fourth Tuesday each month from 10:15 to noon at the home of Ruth Thomas. Leader: Ruth Thomas (703-533-7292)

Afternoon ChristCare
Meets the second and fourth Wednesday each month from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. in the Library. Leader: Pegge Baldauf (703-356-1438)

Spiritual Seekers
Meets the second and fourth Wednesdays each month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Library. This is convenient for parents who have children in choir practice at that time. Leaders: Bob Rayle (703-821-8503) and David Porterfield (703-255-1427)

Men's Square
Meets the second and fourth Saturday mornings each month from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. in the Bethany Room. Leader: David Porterfield (703) 255-1427.

Interested in Forming a New ChristCare Group?

All ChristCare Groups are led by trained leaders, and leaders are available to lead new groups. If you have an interest group (e.g., parents of teens, church school teachers, twentysomethings, empty nesters, government employees, etc.) or a time slot (e.g., every other Monday night) with 3 or more who would like to experience a new ChristCare Group, contact Claire Grossi (703-893-6989) or Rev. Your ChristCare Equipper Team

Equippers are individuals who have had specialized training for the ChristCare Ministry. They are responsible for the formation of new groups, for training group leaders, and for fostering the growth of ChristCare at Lewinsville.
