PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN

"Where two or three come together in my name,
there I am with them
."
Matthew 18:20

At Lewinsville, Presbyterian Women provides opportunities for women to grow together in their faith in Jesus Christ through Bible study, prayer, mission, and fellowship. These opportuonities are created for all women in the church, that they may be encouraged and nurtured in their daily life.

The following is the purpose of Presbyterian Women throughout the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.): "Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, we commit outselves:

  • To nurture our faith through prayer and Bible Study,
  • To support the mission of the church worldwide,
  • To work for justice and peace, and
  • To build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promises of God's kingdom."

MISSION:

Presbyterian Women reaches out in Christ's love to serve our congregation, community, and the world.

In our community, Presbyterian Women has supported The Falls Church/McLean Day Care Center, Lewinsville Retirement Residence, Ingleside at Rock Creek, Church Women United, and the Salvation Army Christmas Stocking Program.

In the broader community, we support the youth at the Presbyterian Children's Home of the Highlands with money for birthday cakes and The Rev. Joe Powlas in Booneville, KY.

In the world, we have supported Wycliffe Bible Translators, mission and outreach programs of Presbyterian Women on Presbytery, Synod and Assembly levels, and the Child Sponsorship Program of the Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation. We also take part in the Fellowship of the Least Coin, collecting the "least coin" of each monetary system among gatherings of women all over the world. Least Coin offerings support programs of literacy, health, disaster assistance, and justice for women and families around the world.

If you would like to help or participate in any Presbyterian Women mission effort, please contact the Coordinators for Mission.

MEMBERSHIP:

Every female member of Lewinsville is considered a member of this organization. Circles meet regularly to foster continued Bible study, mission work, and to provide opportunities for fellowship, support and service within the church and community.
