LOCAL HABITAT PROGRAM As a member of the McLean Interfaith Coalition*, Lewinsville will be participating in another local Habitat for Humanity build in 2007. The Church in the World Ministry group has pledged a $1,000 financial contribution to the project on behalf of the Lewinsville congregation. Now it’s time to start building! This project involves the construction of a three-story, 12-unit condominium building in Fairfax. The building will have four two-bedroom units and eight four-bedroom units. The site is located at 11328 Westbrook Mill Lane, at the intersection of Waples Mill Road and Lee Highway. Parking is available on the adjacent property at Stevenson Street and Lee Highway, as well as on Stevenson Street and the Government Center Parkway. Signs will indicate Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia (HFHNV) parking. Construction is scheduled to begin in January and take at least a year to complete. Volunteers must be age 16 or older and should plan to arrive at the work site at 8:30am to sign in. Lunch will be provided at noon and clean-up begins no later than 3:30pm. All necessary tools and safety equipment are provided on the work site. We invite you to sign up for one of Lewinsville’s assigned work days. Please contact Linda Bender (llbender1@verizon.net) or Paul Orlando (paul.orlando@verizon.net) with any questions. * The McLean Interfaith Coalition is an organization of faith communities within the McLean area dedicated to working together to help people in need in our and our neighboring communities. It began in 2002 in a partnership with Habitat for Humanity to sponsor and build a house in Fairfax. Membership in the Coalition is open to any religious organization (church, temple, mosque), which shares in the mission of the Coalition and is willing to participate in its projects.
