We reach out with love, blessings and comfort in times of need and joy!

sheep-logoIn Christian theology, caritas means an unlimited loving-kindness toward others – this is the goal of Lewinsville’s prayer shawl ministry. The Prayer Shawl Ministry, through our group we call the Lost Sheep Stitchers, provides shawls and afghans to our frail members and those in the midst of serious illness so they will know they are surrounded by the love and prayers of all at Lewinsville.

We also produce Prayer Squares, miniature versions of a prayer shawl, small enough to fit inside a pocket or purse. These small squares, knitted or crocheted with a cross in the middle and with a prayer note attached, may be found on a table in the narthex and are available to anyone who would benefit from having a small and easily felt reminder of the love and care of God at a moment of need. Please feel free to take one for yourself and for a friend or relative.

The Lost Sheep Stitchers seek to provide an opportunity for knitters and crocheters to gather on a regular basis to create shawls and lap robes that will provide both warmth and spiritual comfort to those who wear them. We meet on the first and third Mondays of the month from 10:00 am-12:00 pm in the chapel. If you cannot attend for the entire time, you are most welcome to stay as long as you can.

Lewinsville’s Prayer Shawl Ministry seeks to extend beyond our church in a ministry of care and kindness to bring comfort wherever there is need. We are especially happy to friend your friends who may benefit from this ministry of love and care. Please let us know when we can be of help to you as you support your family member or friend.

On May 22, 2016, our Prayer Shawl Ministry was dedicated at the Sunday morning worship service.  Watch below:

Knitters and crocheters of all skill levels are welcome to enjoy this time of mission, fellowship and learning as we seek to reach out with love, blessings and comfort in a very special way.
