Why would a teenager get up early on weekend mornings to scramble eggs for the homeless, or spend a summer vacation driving nails for Habitat for Humanity, or raise money after school to ease the burden of earthquake victims? Perhaps it is because such selfless commitment to serve others is a sure way of developing a closer and deeper relationship with their Lord.

Below are some of the mission and service opportunities in which our youth participate in each year:

	November - Annual CROP (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty). Walk sponsored by Church World Service. The walk is 3.0 miles in length and begins/ends at the Vienna Town Green.
	November - Lewinsville sends an inter-generational group to join this Walk-a-thon on the National Mall to raise awareness and funds for the homeless in our community.
	Easter - April 8, 2012. Balloons and Eggs! Youth gather early Easter morning to decorate the sanctuary with balloons, then head over to Lewinsville Park to hide eggs for the children's Easter Egg Hunt later that morning. A fun time for all!
	April 27-28, 2012 - Today, 26,000 children will die of hunger or hunger related diseases. Participants in the 30-hour famine raise funds which go to this global effort to stem hunger, while experiencing what it means to be hungry. The fast begins after lunch on a Friday and runs to a light dinner on Saturday evening. We also have two community-related service projects during the day on Saturday for participants.
	Spring- Participate in the church-wide effort to help our mission projects one Saturday morning.
	June - Lewinsville's Summer Mission Project had it's genesis in 1980 when our Pastor took Lewinsville youth on a 1500 mile journey to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Their assignment: convert an old house into an educational building. The success of that early summer project led to an annual trip by the late 1980s. This week-long service opportunities is available to anyone who has completed his or her freshman year in High School. Read more about Summer Mission Project HERE
	Quarterly - Blood drives are held at Lewinsville Church four times a year Sunday mornings. Must be at leaset 17 years old and 110 pounds. Online signups available 3 weeks prior. CLICK HERE for more info and to signup online.
