Lent Begins on Ash Wednesday, March 2, 2022

For centuries the Psalms have been at the heart of the church’s spiritual practice – practices which we have learned from our Jewish neighbors and ancestors. What is remarkable about the Psalms is the comprehensive breadth of the human experience that they encompass. Every significant emotion that is part of our lives is drawn up into the psalms – joy, grief, anger, wonder, rage, confusion, serenity. They’re all there, which means that they are all incorporated into our lives of faith.

We are invited to bring every aspect of who we are to God in our prayers, and the Psalms help us to practice doing just that. Everything belongs.

Our Lenten devotions will correspond loosely with our sermon series of the same name during Lent. Our hope is that the devotions and the sermon series will reinforce each other and inspire us to deeper thinking and more faithful living.

We are grateful to all of our devotional authors for their submissions, and we invite you to ponder them as reflections for our Lenten journeys. The thoughts in each devotion represent those of the author and not necessarily Lewinsville Presbyterian Church.

We will not be publishing a booklet format this year.
You may sign up to receive daily devotions via email each morning,
or you can visit this website each day to see a link to the daily devotion from our home page.

PLEASE NOTE that no devotions are issued on Sundays

Earth Care Reflection/Action Calendar

In addition to the online Lenten Devotions, the Lewinsville Earth Care team is recommending for our use Tread Lightly for Lent, a daily reflection-action calendar produced by Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Presbyterian Mission (Presbyterian Hunger Program). CLICK ON THE CALENDAR COVER AT RIGHT TO DOWNLOAD.

Along with the Lewinsville Lenten Devotions online, the calendar can serve as a helpful guide for contemplation, prayer and actions. As stated on the calendar: “The Presbyterian Hunger Program strives to walk with people in moving toward sustainable choices that restore and protect all of God’s children and Creation. As people of faith, we seek to “serve and preserve” God’s world. Our hope is that this Lenten calendar will be the beginning of actions intended to create more mindful behaviors throughout the year.”

Our Recent Devotions are listed below. As Lent 2022 progresses, the latest devotions will be listed here:
