September 9 Festival Sunday/Ice Cream 11:00 a.m. following the 10 a.m. worship service, join us in the Fellowship Hall for Ice Cream Sundaes and a chance to catch up with friends.
September 16 Program Year Starts/Children’s Choirs & Puppet Troop Regroup 9:45-10:45 a.m. CE begins the 2018-19 program year. Sunday afternoon choirs and puppets will resume rehearsals…beginning at 4:30 p.m.
September 23 6th Annual Teddy Bear 5K and 1K. This annual fundraiser supporting the Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center happens on the morning of Sunday, September 23rd. Every runner receives a teddy bear when they cross the finish line.
September 30 – Special Family Event: Are you Smarter Than a Sunday Schooler? Children and Parents are invited to participate in this fun review game held during the CE hour (9:45-10:45) in Fellowship Hall. We challenge parents! Are you smarter than a Sunday Schooler?
October 12 – 14 Church Retreat at Pearlstone Retreat Center in Reistertown, Maryland “Finding God Together” with our program leader, Rev. Elizabeth Hagan. Get away with friends and family of this congregation for recreation/fellowship/fun and renewal of faith. Registration is open. More Info >>
October 21 Family Worship 9:45 am.
October 27 Trunk or Treat 4:00-6:00 p.m. are the “witching hours” for this fun community event held on the grounds of Lewinsville. Come in costume and trick or treat among decorated cars, play a variety of carnival games, explore the graveyard with the storyteller, walk the cake walk and be entertained with a “haunting” puppet show.
November 11 Mission: Boost the Troops 12:15 p.m. following the 11:00 a.m. worship service Join us in Fellowship Hall to pack the many care boxes with items to be sent to our troops overseas.
November 25 Family Event: Advent Workshop (9:45-10:45 a.m.) Parents are invited to join their children for a morning of activities, crafts and cooking that will help their family prepare for the seasons of Advent and Christmas.
December 2 Family Event: Preschool Angel Breakfast Preschool children and their parents are invited to attend this special breakfast of pancake stars and to hear the nativity story through a puppet show. We will start our morning with “angel crafts” and end our time together with “Angel Bingo” for prizes. Registration for this event will be needed.
December 9 Christmas Festival: “Amahl and the Night Visitors” This special musical presentation of the story of a poor shepherd boy who encounters the three kings, who are searching for the newborn king will be held in the evening at 6:30 p.m. and will feature the singing talents from our adult, youth and children’s choirs.
December 12 Intergenerational Event: “Christmas Around the World” 9:45-10:45 a.m. Everyone is invited to tour through the several different countries and learn how they each welcome the Christ Child at Christmas. The tours will be conducted by the different “gift bringers” from the many world traditions.
December 24 Family Christmas Eve Service/Nativity Tableau 4:30 p.m. Sing the carols, hear the story, see the story through a tableau made up of children and puppets. Celebrate this season through the wonder of children!
February 3 Annual Meeting: “Bible Whodunits Mystery Game” 9:45-10:45 a.m. in the Chapel. While the parents are in the Annual Meeting, the kids(our prime detectives) will be investigating the mystery “crimes” in the Bible through the “Bible Whodunits” Game.
March 3 Shrove Celebration & Pancake Races 11:00 a.m. following the 10:00 a.m. service. Join us in Fellowship Hall for Pancakes, Pancake games, Pancake races in this
“Mardi Gras” celebration before the beginning of Lent.
March 24 Family Event: Purim Carnival 9:45-10:45 a.m. Parents can join the children in exploring the story of Queen Esther and learn about the holiday celebrated by the Jews: Purim otherwise known as the Jewish Halloween. Activities will be set in a carnival format, but through each event participants will learn something about this story from the Bible.
April 14 Palm Sunday/Special Extended Sermon Stories during the 10 a.m. service Children, age 4 to grade 6 are invited to exit the service after the children’s message and participate in this special session of Sermon Stories to learn about the events of Holy Week.
April 23 Easter Celebration & Egg Hunt 10:15 a.m. following the 9:00 a.m. service, parents and children are invited to Fellowship Hall to begin our Easter Celebration with activities that remind us that we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Participants then are invited to the Peters Green for the Easter Egg Hunt.
May 11 Mad Hatter (Mother’s Day) Tea 2-4:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Children, age 4-grade 6 are invited to bring their mothers, grandmothers, aunts and any other significant adult to a MAD TEA PARTY. Play Queen’s Croquet, Cheshire Cat Checkers, Paint the Roses
Red and enjoy a MAD puppet show. Reservations for this event are needed.
June 2 Special Extended Sermon Stories-Pentecost Prep Children, age 4- grade 6, are invited to exit the 10 a.m. service for a special Extended Sermon Stories following the children’s message. The activities the children will engage in will be preparation for the Pentecost service the following Sunday
June 9 Family Worship: Pentecost 10 a.m. worship with interactive storytelling and activities that include children and families with young children in the celebration.
June 12 & 26; July 10 & 24 Summer Stuff & Study Program 6:30-8:00 p.m. This is a new program for the total church family that brings everyone together for a light meal at 6:30 followed by a program in education, or mission, or entertainment, or fellowship for adults, youth and children. The Summer of 2019 will be our inaugural Stuff & Study Program. More information will be forthcoming through this website.
