Sponsored by the Older Adult Council
April 27 to May 18
There’s a lot to know about older adult housing. What does Medicare cover and what is not covered. They’re not all nursing homes. This class will provide an overview and education about what’s available if you decide to move from your home. And we’ll offer some ideas about what to ask when you visit some of these places.
April 27th: This will be an overview of the different types of residential communities and a preview of the four week module. Also, a representative from Vierra Falls Church Health & Rehab will be there to give us details about this type of facility.
May 4th: This week will focus on Assisted Living Facilities and Memory Care Centers. Representatives from Chesterbrook Residences and Sunrise McLean Village will be here to tell us more about what they offer and the costs.
May 11th: This week we will discuss Continuing Care Communities that offer independent living, assisted living and nursing/rehab facilities. Representatives from Ashby Ponds and Goodwin House will be present to share information about their residences.
May 18th: On the final week we will offer a panel of church members to share experiences and knowledge about the care of a loved one or their own experience with one of these facilities. They will talk about the emotional and psychological aspects of making a decision to join another community. There will be time for questions and answers.
