On All Saints’ Sunday, we honor the memory of those who have passed. Life and death are integral to our faith journey. We celebrate new life in Christ through baptism, and we commend those who have died to the fullness of their baptisms, singing ‘Alleluia!’ at the grave, for in Jesus Christ’s resurrection, death has lost its sting forever. We are part of a great Communion of Saints, connected to our ancestors in faith.
This year’s All Saints Sunday will be particularly special. Our morning worship service will feature a joint offering by the choirs of Lewinsville and Trinity Presbyterian, Arlington, presenting a “Samba Mass.” It promises to be a joyful celebration of God’s power in our world. The service will also include a reading of the names of those in our community who have died this past year, along with an opportunity to remember other loved ones. It is a time when we hold our grief and gratitude together, embracing the grace and love of God, from which nothing can separate us.
