GET CONNECTED with our CHURCH FAMILY … responding to human need

Being Christian and Being Human: Summer Course led by Bruce Douglass

Currently most people have heard of secular humanism. But is there such a thing as Christian humanism? If so, what does that entail? Does it make sense for Reformed Protestants to think of themselves that way? Why would anyone want to do that? As a practical matter, what difference might it make? These are some of the issues that will be taken up in this class. The discussions will be based on a book by John W. de Gruchy entitled Confessions of a Christian Humanist. The book is in part autobiographical.
De Gruchy is a South African clergyman who was active in the struggle against apartheid. He is also a well-known Reformed theologian and   Bonhoeffer scholar. Participants will be expected to read selected chapters of the book for each session. For session one, read the first two chapters.   This course will be offered in-person only.  Order the book: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/confessions-of-a-christian-humanist-john-de-gruchy-editor/1100072854
