An “Autumn Leaves” Jazz themed program of music for the beginning Fall will be the opening event on Wednesday, September 25th featuring Christopher Ziemba and Lena Seikaly, performing a jazz piano and voice duet.
Named “one of Washington’s preeminent jazz singers” and “brightest voices in jazz” (The Washington Post), as well as a “major league young talent in jazz” (Duke Ellington’s biographer, Dr. John Hasse), jazz vocalist and Washington, DC area-native Lena Seikaly is already making her mark in national and international jazz circles as a revivalist of traditional jazz vocals, as well as an innovator in contemporary vocal jazz styles.
Chris Ziemba is a jazz pianist, composer, and educator based on the East Coast. He holds performance degrees from the Eastman School of Music and The Juilliard School. In 2017, Ziemba became the pianist for the Airmen of Note, the premier jazz ensemble of the United States Air Force Band based in Washington, D.C. When not on tour, he continues to regularly perform, record and teach all along the East Coast
After the concert, stay for wine, cheese, and fellowship in St. Andrews Hall.
This event is free and open to the public and a free will offering to support the music department will be taken. We invite parents of young children to attend. The double doors to the sanctuary will remain open for the concert so children can play quietly in the narthex.
Come to escape commute traffic, enjoy in fantastic music, and wonderful Christian fellowship!
The Holy Happy Hour recital series will take place the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:15 pm.
