The February Dinner Church will move to the Tuesday before Lent Begins. This Tuesday, known as Shrove Tuesday, comes for an Old English word “shrive” – to confess one’s sins. Cultures around the world observe the beginning of Lent in a variety of ways, including celebrations like Mardi Gras. Since the use of eggs and butter were prohibited for many in Lent, pancake dinners were a way to use up these items before Lent began. The February Dinner church will be a pancake supper, decorated for Mardi Gras, focusing on preparing for Lent. It is an age-inclusive experience, designed to bring everyone—from children to adults—into meaningful worship.
