Psalm 126:3 (NIV)

The Lord has done great things for us,
And we are filled with joy.

Devotion

All of us want to be happy. We would all like to be filled with joy. Our Christian faith knows that all of us basically desire to be outrageously happy. We want to be “filled with joy” and do our Snoopy happy dance.

Through Jesus Christ, God has given us his Kingdom. We have been given everything God has to give and everything we need to live a joyful and eternal life. Our response to this is often, “okay, that’s nice.”

We see the great things God has done for us, and we take them for granted.

During this time of Lent, let’s look around and focus on the great things God has done for us in Jesus Christ.  Let us use all our senses and let God happy dance into our lives and fill us with joy.

Prayer

Joy and happiness are not equal.  Joy is an attitude of the heart while happiness is a passing emotion.  Help us to experience joy even in the toughest of times.
