As part of the community of faith at Lewinsville Presbyterian Church, all have the privilege and responsibility to participate in the selection of officer candidates for consideration by the Nominating Committee of the Congregation. Position descriptions for Elder, Deacon, and Nominating Committee appear at the bottom of this page.
Nominations made through this online form may be submitted anonymously.
While the Nominating Committee will always accept and consider your nominations, please submit your nominees by Sunday, November 14, 2022, to be considered for the upcoming terms (beginning in May 2023).
If you would like to discuss or if you have any questions about the nominating process, please contact the chair of the Nominating Committee Siobhan Grayson, (email@example.com).
Nominating Committee – The Congregational Nominating Committee consists of eight members elected by the congregation to serve two-year staggered terms. The Committee nominates candidates for congregational election to serve as Elders, Deacons/Stephen Ministers, members of the Nominating committee, chairpersons of the various ministry groups and members to serve on the Governing Board of Directors of the Lewinsville Presbyterian Church Foundation. The committee also presents to Session nominees for Clerk of Session and Treasurer.
The Committee seeks to nominate members of the congregation who possess particular qualities and gifts of Christian leadership that will enable them effectively and willingly to share in the governance and ministry of Lewinsville Presbyterian Church.
For lists of those currently serving on Session, the Board of Deacons and as ministry chairs, see the Leadership Section of the Lewinsville website at or visit our Lay Leadership Page and/or the church directory.
CLAIMED… CALLED… SENT
ELDER – Ruling Elders are elected to serve on the Session for a three-year term, with the opportunity to serve up to two consecutive terms. Together with the pastors (Teaching Elders) they share the leadership and governance of the church. Accordingly, congregations should elect persons of wisdom and maturity of faith, having demonstrated skills in leadership and being compassionate in spirit. (The Book of Order G-2.0301) Those called to be Ruling Elders should have the ability to work collaboratively, yet be independent thinkers, be effective communicators and seek to nurture the spiritual life of our community of faith.
DEACON/STEPHEN MINISTERS – Deacons are elected to serve a three-year term, with the opportunity to serve up to two consecutive terms. Deacons provide care, nurture and spiritual guidance to members of the congregation who are experiencing difficulty due to any number of factors – loss, loneliness, grief, or special needs due to life’s circumstances. To be prepared for this ministry, all Deacons at Lewinsville Church receive forty hours of training to serve as a Stephen Minister which enables each Deacon to provide distinctively Christian care to those in need of a caring Christian companion who is trained to listen.
