On SUNDAY, OCTOBER 6, we’ll be taking a Peace & Global Witness offering. A gift to the Peace & Global Witness Offering enables the church to promote the Peace of Christ by addressing systems of injustice across the world. Individual congregations designate 25% of the Offering to connect with the global witness of Christ’s peace. Presbyteries retain 25% for ministries of peace and reconciliation. The remaining 50% is used by the Presbyterian Mission Agency to advocate for peace and justice in cultures of violence, including our own, through collaborative projects of education and Christian witness.
The 25% designated by Lewinsville will go to Mark Adams and Miriam Maldonado Escobar, Mission Co-Workers serving the US-Mexico Border. Bridging cultural, economic, political, and linguistic differences, Mark and Miriam support the ministry of Frontera de Cristo in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ in word and deed on both sides of the border. They and their partners seek to put flesh on the gospel through participation in new church development, permaculture, health ministries, and community and economic development. Recognizing the potentially divisive issues surrounding the border and immigration, Mark and Miriam help churches in the United States and Mexico respond positively and faithfully to these challenges.
Offering envelopes are available in the pew racks.
