Welcome to our Lenten Daily Devotions for 2021. The theme of this devotions will be

Christian Community: Life and Ministry Together

Read more about our theme below. All devotions are all written by Lewinsville members. Each devotion starts with a Biblical reading, the devotion follows, and ends with a prayer.

The first devotion will appear in your email inbox tomorrow, Ash Wednesday, February 17, 2021, around 5:00 am and continue daily until Saturday, April 3. There are no devotions issued on Sundays.

If you have any questions about our daily devotions or wish to unsubscribe, please contact the church office at 703-356-7200 or Lewinsville-Church@lewinsville.org.

About our Theme:

The church of Jesus Christ is more than a random collection of individuals, and it is more than just another service organization. The Christian community of the church has its own life, its own purposes for being, and its own distinctive characteristics. What does Christian community in the church look like? Why is Christian community so important? How is it different than other forms of community in the world? In what ways is it challenging? What do we do when it breaks down? What resources does God make available to us, in order to strengthen and support us in living and serving together? How does God call us to live and serve together? What kinds of attitudes and commitments are required of those who enter into community in the church?

These are the kinds of questions that this theme can raise for us. The Lenten devotional will correspond loosely with our sermon series of the same name during Lent. Our hope is that the Lenten devotional and the sermon series will reinforce each other and inspire us to deeper thinking and more faithful living.

Devotions 2021 announce

Earth Care Reflection-Action Calendar

In addition to the Lenten Devotions, the Lewinsville Earth Care team is recommending for our use Tread Lightly for Lent, a daily reflection-action calendar produced by Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Presbyterian Mission (Presbyterian Hunger Program). This calendar can be found HERE (or click on the Lenten Devotions announcement in the Take Note section of our home page.  Coupled with the Lewinsville Lenten Devotions, the calendar can serve as a helpful guide for contemplation, prayer and actions. As stated on the calendar: “The Presbyterian Hunger Program strives to walk with people in moving toward sustainable choices that restore and protect all of God’s children and Creation. As people of faith, we seek to ‘serve and preserve’ God’s world. … Our hope is that this Lenten calendar will be the beginning of actions intended to create more mindful behaviors throughout the year.”
