GET CONNECTED with our CHURCH FAMILY … responding to human need

We reach out with love, blessings and comfort in times of need and joy!

In Christian theology, caritas means an unlimited loving-kindness toward others – this is the goal of Lewinsville’s prayer shawl ministry. The Prayer Shawl Ministry, through our group we call the Lost Sheep Stitchers, creates shawls and lap robes to
provide spiritual comfort and warmth wherever there is a need. They serve as a tangible reminder of the care and love extended to our frail members, those undergoing medical procedures and comfort in times of loss, sadness and stress. We celebrate births, retirements, graduations and many joyful events. In addition to our members and friends, Lost Sheep are especially happy to “friend” your friends who may benefit from this ministry of love and care.

We also produce Prayer Squares, miniature versions of a prayer shawl, small enough to fit inside a pocket or purse. These small squares, knitted or crocheted with a cross in the middle and with a prayer note attached, may be found on a table in the narthex and are available to anyone who would benefit from having a small and easily felt reminder of the love and care of God at a moment of need. Please feel free to take one for yourself and for a friend or relative.

Please let us know whenever can help support your family member or friend with a prayer shawl or lap robe filled with the prayers of all at Lewinsville. We will be happy to arrange delivery in this time of Covid-19.

The Lost Sheep Stitchers seek to provide an opportunity for knitters and crocheters to gather on a regular basis to create shawls and lap robes that will provide both warmth and spiritual comfort to those who wear them. We meet on the first and third Mondays of the month from 10:00 am-12:00 pm in the chapel. If you cannot attend for the entire time, you are most welcome to stay as long as you can. Knitters and crocheters of all skill levels are welcome to enjoy this time of mission, fellowship and learning as we seek to reach out with love, blessings and comfort in a very special way.
