Hello! We are slowly getting back to “normal” after the Coronavirus Pandemic, and we welcome you to Lewinsville! Worship services on Sunday morning are now open to everyone; worship for the summer of 2021 will remain at 11:00 am rather than move to our usual 10 am during the summers.
Construction/renovation on our campus is limiting the parking space we normally enjoy, so many members and visitors will need to park along Chain Bridge Road when attending worship. However, we have set aside five handicapped spaces in our small parking lot off Great Falls Street for those who need them.
If you come for a visit, you will also notice that with the exception of our Sanctuary, the entire building is under renovation right now. We hope to have some areas complete by the fall and our entire renovation done by early 2022.
We invite you to receive weekly information from Lewinsville – click on “Get Lewinsville Updates” on the right sidebar on this page and select what you would like to receive. Our staff is working remotely during this time, but you can reach the church office by emailing Lewinsville-Church@lewinsville.org or calling 703-356-7200 and leave a voice mail message. Someone will get back to you quickly.
We have left the remainder of this page and this section as if we were not recovering from the Pandemic and not undergoing construction so you can browse various topics and learn more about Lewinsville.
We are so glad you’ve visited our website today. Below you’ll find answers to the questions we are asked most frequently. If you’re already thinking of a visit, you can fill out the form below and let us know when to expect you. We would love to meet you in person soon!
When you schedule your visit, we will:
- greet you at the front door

- guide you and/or your children to Sunday School
- offer you a quick tour of the building
- take you to the sanctuary for the worship service
First, here are a few things for you to know:
Lewinsville Presbyterian Church has been located at the corner of Great Falls Street and Chain Bridge Road in McLean since 1846. Our address is 1724 Chain Bridge Road. Click Here to Get Directions!
What Type of Church is Lewinsville?
Lewinsville is a mainline church and a member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) denomination. We are an active community of over 500 disciples. Lewinsville exists to love and serve God by responding to human need. We are intentionally working on building a community of acceptance and justice. Mission Outreach is important and we have many hands-on programs in our local area. We invite you to peruse this website to learn more about the diverse range of activities in which you would be welcome to participate.
What do you believe?
We believe God is approachable and almighty, personal and transcendent, gracious and generous. We believe in one God, the three-in-one: God the Father (parent), the God the Holy Spirit, and God the Son (Christ Jesus). Through Baptism, we are claimed by God; we are God’s people and we belong to God. We believe we are saved by God’s grace, not by anything we do ourselves. Though we may be undeserving, God reaches out to redeem us. We believe the Bible tells the story of a group of people bound by a common faith in God, and it teaches us how God has been present with humanity since the beginning of time and is present in our world today. By studying the scriptures, we can begin to know of God’s faithfulness, constant love, and eternal goodness.
Wherever you are on your journey of faith, you are welcome here at Lewinsville.
When are your Worship Services?
PLEASE NOTE: THE INFORMATION BELOW IS FOR NON-PANDEMIC TIMES. DURING THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC, WE HAVE JUST ONE SERVICE OF WORSHIP AT 11:00 AM. WHEN WE RETURN TO REGULAR PROGRAMMING, THIS NOTICE WILL BE REMOVED.
We have two regularly scheduled services of worship on Sunday mornings. The exception occurs during the three summer months when one combined service is held at 10:00 am and at stated other times during the program year. The time of next Sunday’s worship service is always listed on the first image on our home page.
Our 8:30 am service is designed to be a simple, less liturgical, but more intimate service. Communion is served every Sunday at the 8:30 hour. All are welcome at the Lord’s table. One member of our Chancel Quartet or our Director of Music Ministries provides music leadership for this service. Typically, this service runs about 50 minutes in duration.
Our 11:00 am service is more traditional, with the sacrament of Holy Communion celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. Holy Communion is also celebrated on special days throughout the year. All Christian believers and their baptized children are welcome at the Lord’s table. One or more of our eight choirs provide music leadership for this service. Typically, this service runs about 75 minutes.
We welcome children at either of our services, but many of them prefer the 11:00 am service for the opportunity it presents to enjoy a few minutes with the pastor in a children’s meeditation. Following the brief meditation, the children are invited to Sermon Stories, a time set aside for activities and videos designed just for them. They re-join their parents during the offertory.
Where should I Park?
During extensive renovations of our building, parking is quite limited in our large parking lot off of Chain Bridge Road. You are invited to park in any space available. We also have a smaller lot off Great Falls Street which has regular and handicapped parking spaces.
Once renovations are complete, we hope to have two spaces in our large lot marked for visitors. Click Here to open our Campus Map and see the location of these parking spots.
What Should I Wear?
Some come casually dressed; others prefer business attire. Regardless, we want members and visitors to be comfortable. Come as you are in a spirit of reverence, ready to worship God.
