What Type of Church is Lewinsville?

Lewinsville is a mainline church and a member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) denomination. We are an active community of over 500 disciples. Lewinsville exists to love and serve God by responding to human need. We are intentionally working on building a community of acceptance and justice. Mission Outreach is important and we have many hands-on programs in our local area. We invite you to peruse this website to learn more about the diverse range of activities in which you would be welcome to participate.
What do you believe?
We believe God is approachable and almighty, personal and transcendent, gracious and generous. We believe in one God, the three-in-one: God the Father (parent), the God the Holy Spirit, and God the Son (Christ Jesus). Through Baptism, we are claimed by God; we are God’s people and we belong to God. We believe we are saved by God’s grace, not by anything we do ourselves. Though we may be undeserving, God reaches out to redeem us. We believe the Bible tells the story of a group of people bound by a common faith in God, and it teaches us how God has been present with humanity since the beginning of time and is present in our world today. By studying the scriptures, we can begin to know of God’s faithfulness, constant love, and eternal goodness.
Wherever you are on your journey of faith, you are welcome here at Lewinsville.
When are your Worship Services?
We have two regularly scheduled services of worship on Sunday mornings. The exception occurs during the three summer months when one combined service is held at 10:00 am and at stated other times during the program year. The time of next Sunday’s worship service is always listed on the first image on our home page.
Our 8:30 am service is designed to be a simple, less liturgical, but more intimate service. Communion is served every Sunday at the 8:30 hour. All are welcome at the Lord’s table. One member of our Chancel Quartet or our Director of Music Ministries provides music leadership for this service. Typically, this service runs about 50 minutes in duration.

Our 11:00 am service is more traditional, with the sacrament of Holy Communion celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. Holy Communion is also celebrated on special days throughout the year. All Christian believers and their baptized children are welcome at the Lord’s table. One or more of our eight choirs provide music leadership for this service. Typically, this service runs about 75 minutes.
We welcome children at either of our services, but many of them prefer the 11:00 am service for the opportunity it presents to enjoy a few minutes with the pastor in a children’s meeditation. Following the brief meditation, the children are invited to Sermon Stories, a time set aside for activities and videos designed just for them. They re-join their parents during the offertory.
Where should I Park?

We have two reserved parking spaces for first- and second-time visitors. These spaces are located near the main entrance to our education building. Parking spaces for the physically impaired are there too. Click Here to open our Campus Map and see the location of these parking spots.
What Should I Wear?
Some come casually dressed; others prefer business attire. Regardless, we want members and visitors to be comfortable. Come as you are in a spirit of reverence, ready to worship God.
Educational Opportunities
We have Sunday School for all ages each Sunday from 9:45 – 10:45 am!
A nursery for infants through age 2 and staffed by two child-care professionals is available throughout Sunday morning.

Children ages 3-5 attend Godly Play/Joyful Noise, a combination of learning Bible stories and beginning choir. Elementary age children attend Messy Church, a program involving Bible study and activities. Click Here to Read about Classes for Children.
Junior & Senior high teens help teach Messy Church to the younger children each week. Teaching is an excellent way to learn and understand what the Bible teaches us at a higher level. We also have a Confirmation Class for 9th graders which explores questions of faith. Click Here to Read about Classes for Youth. We also have a Youth Fellowship program for teens each Sunday evening. Click Here to Read about Youth Fellowship.
Classes for adults are usually presented in 6-week modules with special sessions as designated. Click Here to Read about our Class Offerings for Adults. The Messy Church program described above also has a parent component and is designed particularly for young families. At Messy Church, families meet together for an opening session at 9:30, then the parents leave for a break-out group discussion at 9:45 am. Once a month, Messy Church has a celebration Sunday from 9:30-11:00 am involving activities for the whole family, a 15-minute worship experience, followed by breakfast.
