GET CONNECTED with our CHURCH FAMILY … responding to human need

Fairfax Interfaith Coalition Volunteer Opportunities

The McLean Interfaith Coalition has a new name to reflect the addition to the Coalition of congregations in Reston, Great Falls, and Vienna. The new name, the Fairfax Interfaith Coalition for Habitat (FICH), better reflects both the geographic area of the congregations participating and the purpose of the Coalition, namely to support Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia (HfHNV) activities and builds.

Lewinsville has been part of the McLean Interfaith Coalition (now Fairfax Interfaith Coalition for Habitat) since 2004, working with other congregations in McLean and Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia to build and repair affordable housing in the local area.  In September 2016 Habitat dedicated two new homes in Alexandria which volunteers from the McLean Interfaith Coalition, including some from Lewinsville, helped build.  Below is a photo of the completed houses.

Upcoming workdays for FICH with HfHNV are listed below. We will be working on rehabs of two existing single family houses and on two new single family houses, all in the Alexandria portion of Fairfax County.  The workday is from 8:45-3:30.

Upcoming workdays  are:

  • Currently no workdays are scheduled through June due to Covid-19.

Volunteers supply their own lunch and Habitat supplies water and tools. If you bring your own tools, be sure they are identified with your name. If you’re interested in joining volunteers from other local congregations on any of the scheduled work days, contact Mary Frase, the Lewinsville representative to FICH, maryjfrase@gmail.com or 703-536-4091.
