The Death of Jesus as Told in the Gospel of Mark

Why were people talking about Elijah during the crucifixion? Biblical Storyteller Jean Dudek tells the story of the death of Jesus, as recounted in the Gospel of Mark (chapter 15:33-41). We discussed the story, and learned about the cultural understandings of Mark’s original audience, and connections to other parts of Mark’s Gospel and to the Old Testament.

Jean Dudek holds a Master of Theological Studies degree, with a concentration in Biblical Studies, from Wesley Theological Seminary, and works at Wesley as a Teaching Assistant in Hebrew Bible and New Testament courses. A trained Biblical Storyteller, she has been sharing the Bible in this way for over ten years.
